The science

What we test, and why every test earns its place.

No mystery panels, no padding. Here is everything a Sango Check reads — in plain English.

Chapter one

Your blood: the long-term record.

Blood doesn't describe how you feel today — it describes how the last few months and years have actually gone. One draw, twenty-plus measurements.

Heart and metabolism

Full cholesterol profile lipids

Total, HDL, LDL, non-HDL and triglycerides. High cholesterol has no symptoms — it's found, or it's missed. These numbers drive most heart-risk decisions.

HbA1c blood sugar

Your average blood glucose over roughly three months. It catches pre-diabetes years before anyone feels a thing — the window where change is easiest.

hs-CRP inflammation

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein: the quiet, body-wide inflammation marker linked with cardiovascular risk. It pairs directly with what we see in your gums.

Organs

Liver function ALT · ALP · GGT · bilirubin

The liver rarely complains until late. These enzymes flag fatty liver and other issues while they're still reversible.

Kidney function creatinine · eGFR

How well your kidneys filter. Early decline is silent and manageable; late decline is neither.

Thyroid TSH

The metabolism thermostat. An out-of-range thyroid explains a remarkable amount of tiredness, weight change and low mood.

Energy and resilience

Full blood count immune & oxygen

Red cells, white cells, platelets — the broad screen for anaemia, infection and more.

Ferritin iron stores

The most common answer to "why am I always tired?" — measured properly, not guessed.

Vitamin D the UK winter deficit

Most of us run low from October to April. Relevant to bone, muscle and immune health — and easily fixed.

Check Plus adds

ApoB and Lp(a) modern heart risk

ApoB counts the particles that actually cause artery damage; Lp(a) is the inherited risk factor most people have never had measured once. Together, a sharper heart-risk picture than cholesterol alone.

Fasting insulin earliest diabetes signal

Insulin rises years before blood sugar does. This is the earliest early warning metabolic testing offers.

Hormones, B12, folate, uric acid + ECG the deeper set

Energy, mood and recovery context — plus a heart-rhythm trace read by a clinician.

Chapter two

Your skin: the visible record.

Skin cancer is one of the most treatable cancers when caught early — and one of the most serious when caught late. The difference is usually just whether anyone was looking.

  1. Full-body imaging. Medical-grade cameras photograph your skin systematically — including your back, scalp line and everywhere you can't see yourself.
  2. AI review of every lesion. Certified dermatology software assesses each mole against the patterns that matter — asymmetry, border, colour, size — and flags anything that deserves attention.
  3. A clinician decides. The AI never makes the final call. Every flag is reviewed by a clinician, with a dermatology referral arranged if anything warrants specialist eyes.
  4. Your baseline is saved. Next visit, every mole is compared against itself. Change over time is the strongest signal in skin — and it's only visible if you have a map to compare against.
Most people have never once had their whole skin examined. A Sango Skin map takes about twenty minutes.

Chapter three

Your oral microbiome: the early record.

Your mouth hosts a living ecosystem of bacteria — and its balance is one of the earliest readable signals of what's happening in the rest of your body. It's also the one other health checks skip.

Gum health scoring periodontal screen

Pocket depths and bleeding index — the clinical measure of gum inflammation. Periodontal disease is consistently associated with higher cardiovascular risk, and gum health tracks tightly with blood sugar control.

Salivary sampling inflammation signals

Saliva carries measurable markers of inflammation and microbial balance. Read alongside your blood hs-CRP, it helps build the inflammation picture from two directions.

Oral cancer check two minutes

A visual and physical screen of the mouth, tongue and throat. Quick, painless — and something most people have never once had.

Why it matters: inflammation that begins in the gums doesn't stay there. Decades of research link the oral microbiome and periodontal disease with heart disease, type 2 diabetes and systemic inflammation — often with changes visible in the mouth years before symptoms appear anywhere else. Reading it takes fifteen minutes.

We describe associations, not certainties — no single test diagnoses anything on its own. That's exactly why a clinician reads your mouth, skin and blood together.

Afterwards

Your results: one report, three actions.

  1. Same visit: your clinician reviews skin, oral and vitals findings with you in person.
  2. Within the week: blood results explained in plain English — every marker with a green, amber or red status and what it means.
  3. The Sango Report: one document with your Sango Signal — every marker’s status and, from year two, what moved — ending with your three priority actions. Never thirty.
  4. If anything needs care: the referral is arranged and the letter your GP or specialist needs is written for you.
